Do you have what it takes to run a successful UK franchise?

Franchising isn't right for everyone.
Like any form of self-employment, it requires
a particular temperament, mindset and attitude.

As well as thoroughly researching available franchise opportunities, it's important that you take some time to carefully assess your own suitability for this form of self-employment.

Questions to consider include:

  • Why do you want to be self-employed? Are you genuinely ready to give up the security of paid employment?
  • Can you afford to invest in a franchise and support yourself until your new business starts to generate income?
  • Do you have the health and energy necessary to build and run a new business? Are you prepared to work long hours if necessary?
  • Are you open to taking advice and support, especially if it doesn’t reflect your own views or opinions?
  • Have you discussed your plans with your family? Do they understand the impact self-employment will have on their lives?
  • Can you multi-task and maintain focus on different jobs at the same time?
  • Do you have a positive mindset, drive, determination and perseverance?
  • Do you accept that a franchise is not a guarantee of success?

Be honest with yourself

Franchising is not for everyone, but if you can answer all the questions in this section positively, then you probably have the right mindset, skills and personal circumstances to invest in a franchised business.
